What Goes Where at the Site
Please keep items clean and separated. Please understand how to recycle. We have a How to Recycle flier.
These sorting instructions are based upon traffic flow--which items you should unload first.
- At the greeter station, please leave the following items:
Ink cartridges, cell phones, Campbell labels, manufacturer's coupons, Spartan (used to be VGs) receipts, and Box Tops for Education. - Compactor A is Mixed Paper. It accepts mixed paper, manila file folders, paperboard, junk mail, magazines, hard cover books, paperback books that are not made of newsprint, glossy inserts, school papers, and all types of office paper. We do not accept laminated file folders, hanging files (unless metal strips are removed), plastic, or looseleaf covers.
- Compactor B is for Newspapers. It accepts newsprint material, telephone books, moving packing paper that looks like newspaper, newsprint catalogs and advertisements.
- Compactor C is for plastics. We accept any plastic with a triangle marked #1 through #7. We accept all shopping bags, clean black bags, flower pots, all clear bags, fast food lids marked and unmarked. We do not accept fast food wrappers or saran wrap used for food products. We do not accept antifreeze jugs, oil jugs, nor insecticide jugs.
- Compactor D is for cardboard/box board, and paper bags.
- Green Table #1 is for magnetic metals. Please separate aluminum from magnetic metals and place them in a separate bag or container. Foil lids are accepted as long as they are not plastic. Please remove paper and cardboard from the metal clothing hangers before bringing them here for recycling. Place this same paper and cardboard in the appropriate containers.
- Green Table #2 is for glass. We take clear and brown glass bottles and jars. Vases, clear drinking glasses, and dishes are accepted as long as they are not leaded glass. Translucent green wine bottles are accepted as long as they are light in color. We do not accept perfume bottles, mirrors, tempered window glass, or cooking glass such as Pyrex.
- All household batteries are accepted except for lead acid batteries. We need more cat litter buckets for batteries.
- Styrofoam. We take #6 polystyrene foam. Please take packing peanuts to UPS stores, antique dealers, EBay stores, or someone who ships these items.
- The crates between Foam Trailer and Electronics Trailer are for returnable bottles and cans.
